Background and Experience
In 1979, during my second year of law
school, I came to Alaska as a legal intern
for the Municipality of Anchorage.
Upon graduation, I served as law clerk to
the Honorable Brian C. Shortell, Judge of
the Superior Court. In 1981, I
founded my own firm, emphasizing
commercial litigation, debtor/creditor
relations and bankruptcy. I have
acted as both bankruptcy examiner and
trustee. In 1991, I was lead counsel
in Alaska's first bankruptcy "mega
case", the successful chapter eleven
reorganization of an Alaska Native
Regional Corporation. In 1996, I
joined Chugach Alaska Corporation as its
general counsel, a position I held for
four years until returning to private
practice.
