Background and Experience

I have been an active trial attorney in Anchorage since 1971.  Between 1973 and 1982, I was an attorney with the former Greater Anchorage Area Borough and Municipality of Anchorage, handling all eminent domain work for each between 1973 and 1980, as well as much construction litigation.  My first job was condemning land for a 12 mile long green belt along a canoeing stream in Anchorage from the mountains to the sea.  I helped draft many of the zoning and environmental regulatory measures for these fledgling Alaska local governments and also prosecuted for two years.  Since 1982, I have been associated in trial practice with John Pletcher and have been largely engaged in insurance tort defense.  Defense scenarios have ranged from a cannery fire in the Aleutian Islands, to a flight seeing tour crashing into Mt. McKinley, to preparation of defense before an Eskimo jury of a house fire in Pt. Barrow which killed four small Eskimo children.
